Shoot what you love, they say. And who wouldn’t love to eat? As a certified foodie, I am adventurous when it comes to trying new café, restos and food.

Food is definitely life and food photography is lifer. It’s our way to share the good things, must try and innovative dishes to our family and friends. I love taking photos of my food because it boosts your creativity in showing off its best part. So now, I would like to share with you tips on how to give justice to your gastronomic plates.

I sometimes use my camera but I usually use smartphone in taking my foodie photos. It’s more convenient to capture the moment before everything goes to your stomach and it’s easier to share it online.

Now, here are FOUR EASY STEPS in capturing the most instagrammable food shot!

1. Good light is your best friend.

Having the perfect light allows you to showcase the beauty of your table/plates naturally. It can show the natural colour and bits of the food photo. While you can play with shadows, you have to watch out for the unnecessary ones. You can move around with your camera to find the best lighting for your photo.

2. Try different angles.

Flatlay is not the only way to go. While taking a photo from above the table looks so nice, it does not work every time. Some food photos are better when you take a close up or side shot.

3. Focus on what is important.

You either do a beautiful mess for flatlay photos or create a nice background for your food photo.
Just make sure that you don’t overdo the background and the food is still the star. Remove pieces that do not add value to the photo and just serve as distraction.

4. Touch up your photo.

When there’s little hope, post-processing is your life saver.
My favourite app is VSCO when it comes to editing my photo. Aside from the presets, you can do adjustments in brightness, contrasts, etc. Do a little edit on your food shot so it can look more appetising like increasing sharpness or adjusting contrast. Little edits can make big difference.

So there, I hope to see lots of food-fie, oops, food shots on your feed. Remember, click before you eattttt! *winks*

HELLO CANADA!

QUICK SNACK WITH THE SAINTS

THE PLACE

Holy.. I believe is the concept of the place. It's vintage.. perfect for a place like Intramuros. The wooden ceiling, the old chandelier, the tables and chairs make me feel like dining inside an ancestral house.

THE PLACE

While the place is so fancy, I fell in love with their menu. They offer a variety of drinks, pizza, pasta, even rice meals.

As a seeker of something new, I definitely tried their unique pizza, it's innovative that they topped laing with their thin crust pizza. I also ordered their pineapple carrot smoothie. Something healthy, eh?

Plus the prices are really affordable, mind you, with no service charge.

MY KIND OF NIGHT.

When I attended an event at Bonifacio High Street, I ended up at having dinner at Mercato with my friends. It is a night market which offers a wide selection of food that would definitely suit the cravings of your taste buds.
There were a lot of people because it's a Saturday night but there are a lot of tables and chairs as well. The tables are bit dirty tho because people are dining in out but for the love of food, you can surely find a way.

THE FOOD
Overwhelmed. That is exactly what we felt when the variety of food welcomed us. It was a hard decision choosing the food to buy because I tell you, there's a variety of it.

We roamed around first to check all the selection just because we want to make the right decision. Haha. There were street foods, more than what the street carts usually offer. There were seafoods, and other exciting pica pica. They also have grilled barbecue and different ihaw ihaw to choose from. There are also stalls which offer pasta, pizza, pizza lasagna, even burgers. There are also available shawarma, meals. And yes, there are desserts. From cupcakes to cakes, cookies or pastries- they have it for you. And my favorite? Ice cream. There are few stalls which offer unique ice cream flavors. To wash out every food you have taken, refresh yourself with the drinks that are also much available.

MUST TRY
Nitrogen liquid ice cream: Not just it has a rich flavor but you'll also be entertained by the smoke it creates while it was being prepared especially for you.

It's a kind of Saturday night I would love to repeat all over again.

A JAPANESE KIND OF NIGHT.

THE PLACE

THE FOOD

While me and my friend wants to feast over the appetizing selection of japanese food, we just chose to order dumplings, sushi and one thing that we can never remove on our order list, desserts.

THE PLACE

The place is indeed fancy. I personally like the white and blue interior because it makes you want to sit back and relax, free your mind and feast your heart out.

THE FOOD

From their wide selection of food, you can choose your appetizer, main course and my favorite part, desserts. Since we're on a diet when we visited the place (we know, wrong move), we fought so hard against temptation, not to order a heavy meal. So we just settled ordering their salmon spring rolls and their coffee pie, mind you, the coffee pie was sugar free, again, sugar free. Washed down our food with their ripe mango juice.
